Scientists removed a whale carcass from the beach at Kailua near Lanikai Friday morning. The whale was found dead off the beach and towed to shore. This comes after the State Department of Land and Natural Resources reported two adult false killer whales were in distress offshore Thursday night. The whales were spotted Thursday swimming in circles between Flat Island and the shore. Although no sharks have been spotted in the area, officials continue to urge the public to stay out of the water until further notice.
