More than 20 outdoor enthusiast groups filed an ethics complaint yesterday against state Representative Sylvia Luke, alleging her work as a personal-injury attorney affected her decisions as House Finance Committee Chairwoman. The beef is over a bill that would have granted state and counties immunity from lawsuits on public lands. Luke removed the language stating signs warning of dangerous conditions are adequate to protect local government from lawsuits. Hikers, mountain bikers and other outdoor enthusiasts fear popular areas will be closed because of lawsuits.
