State Representative Mark Takai, a Democrat who voted against civil unions and had been undecided on gay marriage, said Tuesday that he supports marriage equality. Takai told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser that he wanted to make sure he was voting the way he thinks he should have voted a few years ago. He said it just took him a little while to go through everything and like many people -- especially elected officials - his feelings on this particular issue have evolved. Takai is running in the Democratic primary election for Congress in urban Honolulu's 1st Congressional District.
