University of Hawaii athletic director Ben Jay says the team has turned down a proposal to play Colorado University next month in a school-record seventh football road game. Colorado University had sought UH as an opponent for an October 19 game in Boulder, Colorado, an open date for both schools. CU needed an opponent when the September 14 home game with Fresno State was cancelled because of heavy flooding in Colorado. But Fresno State and CU couldn't find a mutually workable date to reschedule. Had UH taken the game, it would have meant playing four road games in a five-week period. CU is believed to have offered UHmore than $600,000 to accept the game. Jay did not want to go into reasons why the UH turned CU down.
