Daryl Morey Says the Rockets Are the Western Conference Favorites Next Year

Daryl Morey says a Kevin Durant-less Warriors team will open up the Western Conference next season.

Colin Cowherd: “The NBA can be very cruel and windows can close quickly. The Sacramento Kings 15 years ago looked like a championship team and you wake up the next morning and the window closes. How fearful are you that with Chris Paul’s body aging your window is closing very quickly?”

Daryl Morey: “That’s a real thing and we have to make sure we can stay competitive. That’s why we’re chasing some of the top free agents again and I think we got a real shot at one of them potentially. We feel very good about our window. Obviously, Golden State is probably not going to be as good next year so that’s going to help us. I think we’re the favorites in the West next season and Vegas will show that.”

Listen to Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey join The Herd to explain why he thinks his Rockets will be the team to beat next season in a Western Conference that no longer has to worry about Kevin Durant headlining a Golden State Warriors dynasty that steamrolls everyone in its path.

Durant’s catastrophic Achilles injury will force him to miss the entire season in 2020, which has created a gigantic question mark to who the next great Western Conference worldbeater will be.

Check out the audio below as Morey tells Colin Cowherd that the Rockets will be the biggest benefactors of a KD-less Warriors team rebuilding their leveled empire.
